Minutes of NOA Board of Directors Meeting
Sept. 17, 2007Call to order-The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at Hackney’s in Lake Zurich. Those in attendance were: Randy Steen, Tom Vogan, Mike Babicz, Jerry Blum, Rocky Nelson and Mike Roseman, Steve Gibble, Don Swanson, Jim Bernardi, Fred Swanson, Bob Brown, Darrell Schrag, Peter King and John Widmayer.
Approval of minutes for May 21, 2007- Mike Babicz moved to accept the minutes of May 21, 2007. Rocky Nelson seconded the motion. The motion was passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s report-Randy Steen- The balance in the checking account is $6,078.17. About 90 members have yet to pay their dues. Jerry Blum will send out a reminder to all to send in their dues. Fred Swanson moved to accept the Treasure’s report and Bob Brown seconded. The motion was passed.
Secretary’s Report-Jerry Blum- Card sent to Pete Flatebo( father) and one will be sent to Mike Geske (mother).

-Banquet questionnaireMembership Chairman’s Report- Mike Roseman-approximately 90 members have not paid dues yet.
Assignment Chairman’s Reports-
Football- Bob Brown- Season is going OK with a lot of help.
Assignment mtg. will be the Sunday after the Super Bowl.
We need more crews.
Football classes went well ( about 30 people) but only a few up northBasketball- Mike Babicz- nothing new to report other than Quentin will be using 3 person
Crews for Varsity and Tournament games.Baseball- Dave Kirtz- No report (not present)
President’s Reports-
Football- Tom Vogan- Good attendance early but it tapered off. Al Smigel is the new President and Darrell Schrag is the new at large representative.
Bob Brown-we need more meetings and training of newer officials.Basketball- Rocky Nelson- Meetings will start 9/26/07 and the entire schedule is set.
Speakers include Harry Bohn & Beth Sauser (IHSA).
Elections will be held on the last meeting date, 10/31/07 or 11/7/07.

Clinic will be Wed. 9/19/07 at 7pm at Mundelein HS.

Rocky announced he will not be running for President again.Baseball- Dave Kirtz- Not present
IACAO- Jim Bernardi-BB clinic will be 11/03/07 at Hoffman Estates HS
Registration forms are available on line.Banquet Committee Report- Randy Steen- Send out a questionnaire on the date for the banquet, either Wed. April 19, 2008 or Sat. April 23, 2008.
Norm Geske Scholarship- Peter King- Randy-Fund balance is at $11,953.12.
We received a nice note from Alex Wodka last year’s recipient from BG.Bob Brown Fund- Randy- Balance of $2062.00.We would like to be 2 years ahead.
Keith Ryan Scholarship- Mike Babicz – Dinner Oct. 4, 2007 at Midlane CC, Wadsworth & Yorkhouse, Waukegan. Dick Kessler is being inducted this year. Joe Newton will be the speaker. Social is at 6pm with dinner at 7pm..
Possible Nominees for next year are Norm Ericson and Tom Baba.Lifetime Member- Nominees for next year are: Paul Brott and Dennis Doud
Old Business- BB top 15 forms are on the NOA website.
Salaries will be the same for this year.
Baseball has only 20 members paid from 2006. Several of the 20 are two & three sport members.
Rocky Nelson made a motion to drop Baseball as a sport in the NOA. He further stated that they can be considered for reinstatement if they so desired.
Bob Brown seconded and it was passed unanimously.New Business-NOA-AOS Banquet will be on Oct. 3, 2007 at Hackney’s in Lake Zurich at 7pm. Bill Corrola will be the featured speaker.
Incorporation & Insurance coverage was brought up by Mike Babicz.
Liability for Association
Don will check w/ NASSO on insurance
Observer’s program-
Forms- for program
Idea is to get the program started
Don Swanson is in charge of the program with Sport President in charge of a particular sport
Officials with less than 3 years experience will be targeted and anyone else who would like to be observedMotion to adjourn- Randy Steen motioned and Jim Bernardi seconded; it was passed. The meeting adjourned at 9:03 pm.
