Minutes of NOA Board of Directors Meeting
May 19, 2008Call to order-The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm at Hackney’s in Lake Zurich. Those in attendance were: Mike Babicz, Jerry Blum, Rocky Nelson, Don Swanson, Bob Brown, Jim Bernardi, Darrell Schrag, Al Smigiel, Troy Whalen, Fred Swanson, Peter King.
Approval of minutes for Jan. 18, 2007- Motion to accept was made by Mike Babicz and seconded by Don Swanson. The vote to accept was unanimous.
Treasurer’s report-Randy Steen-Checking Account balance-$4260.35
Norm Geske Fund-$11,297.31, Bob Brown fund- $4033.00.
The NOA received an anonymous donation of $1,00.00 the week of the banquet.Secretary’s Report-Jerry Blum-Next newsletter will be out in early June.
Membership Chairman’s Report- Mike Roseman- Membership
Level Basketball Football There are a total of 152 members of which 34 are doing both sports.
I have sent out applications to four prospective officials who are waiting until July to send me their money. That will increase Basketball by three members and Football by two.
A roster was sent today to the new officers for just their sports. I asked that we get together in a few months to discuss how to retain the existing members and recruit new ones.
Assignment Chairman’s Reports-
Football- Bob Brown-We are short 16 officials short for Aug. 30, 2008. The IACAO Clinic is Sat. Aug. 16 at Naperville North. Football Class for new officials is being held July 1 & 2 at the Forest View H.S. Campus. Check with Octavio Herrara for details.
Basketball- Mike Babicz-We have assigned 100 games for Jerry Heidlauf and gave back 15 dates. There are 16 available dates for Waukegan with start times at 4:30pm. Quentin Rd. Basketball (Mike is using Quickbase for availability) so UPDATE your schedule.
President’s Reports-
Football-Al Smigiel-Football meetings will be starting on Wed. Aug 13 and will be every Wed. till Sept. 17. They will start at 7pm at Mundelein H.S.
Basketball-Troy Whalen-Basketball meetings will be at either Mundelein or Carmel H. S.
IACAO- Jim Bernardi-IACAO Football clinic is Aug. 16 at Naperville North. Football rules Interpretation meeting will be online. Arrangements can be made by the Association
Banquet Committee Report- Randy Steen-Cost of this year’s banquet was $1,539.96. Food-$1007.58 and drinks were $532.38. There were 52 members in attendance at a cost of $29.62. There was discussion on how to improve the banquet for next year. The tentative date for next year’s banquet is May 2, 2009.

Old Business- A meeting was proposed with an official who has been accused of unprofessional conduct. A letter will be sent to the official inviting him to this meeting.
New Business- Officials conference is July 18 & 19 in Peoria.
We are looking for two representatives to represent the NOA. The NOA has sent a donation of $100.00 to help fund the social event. We will send a door prize to the conference. The process of Incorporation was discussed. This is something we need to look at seriously.Motion to adjourn- Jim Bernardi moved to adjourn at 9:29pm and it was seconded by Don Swanson. All approved
